Hi ya’ll!
I hope ya’ll are all having a great week and that everyone is enjoying this early Spring weather. It was 80 degrees here in Asheville yesterday and that is way, WAY out of the norm here. I also wanted to wish you all a wonderful Easter weekend. We plan to have family and friends over for Easter lunch on Sunday. I would also like to share a couple of antique tables that I recently finished this week. I found them on Facebook Marketplace for $50.
This is the actual photo from the FB ad……….and they had me at hello ya’ll. The tables were in pretty good shape and did not smell at all. So I brought them in the house to get started on…….. and I just could not get the color to pop in to my crazy little head at all. It was weird! Finally Big Daddy chimed in…….
And the word was black!
Now he does not pick colors very often around here. That is almost always my thing. And I will say that black was not in my top 5 colors but it sure looks good on these tables!
If you take a look back at the FB photo you may be able to see that one of those Hepplewhite drawer pulls was damaged. Usually I can dig around in my hardware boxes and find something similar but not this time. I found one in the size and shape on Etsy. Four days later it was in my mailbox! I did use a bit of Rub’n Buff on them for some shine.
Both of the pieces are Mahogany which is a red wood. I used a Minwax stain on them that I have never used called English Chestnut. It managed to pull out the browns rather than red.
The drawer liner paper is one of my very favorites. These big ol’ roses are just so romantic and beautiful ya’ll. This particular wallpaper comes in 3 different colors, black, green and yellow that’s really a cream color. I have used all three and love them!
I have been using a new to me product to seal my pieces from General Finishes. It’s called Arm-r-Seal in the satin finish . It is low order and dries fast y’all. I use 3 coats on a piece with 24 hours in between each coat. I do a light sanding in between each coat to make it super smooth.
Ya’ll…….. they sold in one hour!
Much Love,
Paige
