Over the last year or so it has become more and more difficult to acquire pieces of secondhand furniture. All you have to do is take a look at the asking prices on Facebook Marketplace. For example I used tone able to pick up a good sized, in good working order all wood dresser for $75 all day long. Now I am really struggling to find a dresser for $125 and that dresser is missing a drawer or a leg. Don’t think I’m kidding. Here’s my biggest pitfall: I get so anxious about where I’m going to get my next piece and spend money on the first piece of junk I find and when I get home it turns in to a money pit. Today’s post is about one of those……. or so I thought.
One of those cute bun feet came off before I even got it in to the garage.
Lord this thing was so ORANGE, even the sides of the drawers. On the bright side it had lots of drawers, five in fact and none of them were sticking. Plus I did like the height of the piece and the cute feet. It took me over 2 1/2 hours out in the driveway to sand all the orange stain off this piece and then stain it all again in a much better color.
I am thrilled with how the top and drawers turned out!
I used Minwax Jacobean stain and love how the natural grain really shows off. I painted the body of the dresser in a very light gray called Turtledove from Melange paints. The gray knobs and the galvanized cup pulls I had in my hardware stash.
See what I mean?
Thank ya’ll for stopping in to visit and have a great week ya’ll!
