Ya’ll there is a list of things in my Crazy Little Head , things I’d love to come across. The top few items on this list start with #1. a free tame monkey, #2. An antique oak dining table cut down to coffee table height and #3 complete access to a furniture hoarders, well ,HOARD. So if you were a betting person, which would you guess is the subject of this post????
I walked in to my Goodwill last week and saw this and lost my mind ya’ll! Just so you know, I know I’m crazy and I’m OK with it. This is an important detail in this piece: this piece is antique……. and solid oak. In a bit ya’ll will understand why that’s crucial for my design to work. My first plan was to paint the entire top in General Finishes Lamp Black. So I did…….. but I was not at all happy with it. So Big Daddy helped me haul this coffee table BACK out to the driveway to sand the top down once again. Right away I noticed that the black paint had settled in to the grain of the oak. So I took my time and slowly worked my way through that top so as not to loose any opportunity to see the former black finish in that grain. My neighbors know I’m crazy . I’m sure they say me doing my Happy Dance……..
Oh my Lord, how cool is this?????
I love that oak grain highlighted by that black paint ya’ll!
Come to think of it…….. I have used this paint technique before………. in white.
Remember?
I sealed the entire piece in the same furniture was as in my last piece.
Have a great week ahead ya’ll!
