For this last two or three months I have been using a new paint line. The Melange paint line. When this paint line very first became available I ordered some in black. I liked the paint………. but I did not love it. I did however use the entire jar black paint …….. then I kinda forgot about that paint line all together. I didn’t have a local source for the stuff. I had purchase the stuff through Etsy, paid for shipping and waited. AAAnnndd wwwaaaait. No fun what so ever. In the early Spring I notices that Melange had a new furniture paint called One. One , meaning a one step paint, paint and sealer all in, well ONE. I did not instantly break my neck to load up on this product, at $20 for an eight ounce glass jar of this stuff. I ordered one color, Talley Green……… and then I lost my damn mind. So over the next several months I ordered five other colors. Now I am pretty sure that the folks at Melange paint are very good at making very good paint for us crazy furniture flipping folks. Today I want to introduce ya’ll to another beautiful color from the nice folks at Melange.
But first I want to show ya’ll today’s victim.
I bought this solid wood maple dresser from a really nice young lady that lives East Asheville and it was in really good shape, especially for $40. The skirt all the way around the bottom was veneer and it was popping off all over the place. This is not a bad thing ya’ll. A metal putty knife of Big Daddy’s made easy work of that mess. You just push the metal blade of that putty knife under the already pealing veneer and pop it right off. It you take your time it should come off in one piece with no splintered pieces. When I had the loose veneer all off I sanded the less expensive wood under the veneer really well. The less expensive wood is still good wood ya’ll. You sand it for a couple reasons. First of all the veneer is glued to the expensive wood . It will feel rough and may sticky . Just take your time and sand until the wood under the veneer is nice and smooth so the paint will go on nicely.
Here’s what I got for all that sanding.
Honestly I had forgotten that I had this roll of Scalloped Frog Tape. When I finally wanted to use the stuff I couldn’t remember where I had put it. I finally found the stuff out in the Hell Hole still in its original plastic case . The case keeps the tape from drying out and loosing its stick. The Frog people no longer make this stuff but you can get it on Ebay. It did come in other shapes also.
I found the cute wicker knobs on Amazon ya’ll.
They bring a bit of texture and fun to the piece!
Here’s the link to the drawer liners. Ya’ll know I love me some gray, my whole house is covered in it. When it was time to line these drawers I didn’t want to use anything that was too busy.
Plus this paper is $9 ya’ll!
I hope all of ya’ll are having a great Summer!
