About 10 days ago I was sitting out on the porch with Big Daddy and the cats absolutely immersed in Facebook Marketplace like the there was no tomorrow. I had not been able to snag so much as a thimble on there for weeks and I was just about to have a meltdown. Like a crying screaming snotting fit. EVERYBODY and their Mama wants an arm and a kidney for even the beat up stuff. So against my better judgment I did something I rarely ever do. I offered a very nice lady about $20 less than her asking price and she took it!

This is the sellers actual photo from Facebook Marketplace
I knew I wanted raw drawer fronts and the top so I sanded the old finish off immediately and then brought the piece in the house so I could wiped it down and start painting. I loved those sweet little legs and also left them raw as well.
As I was sanding the drawers I thought to myself, these do not match. The more I thought about it, it occurred to me that each draw was made with a different wood, and get this: The entire back of this chest is oak.
Hand to God.
I had a big pile of oak knobs in my knob stash so I picked the ones with the pretties grain and used them on this piece
See what I mean?
The top turned out really cool ! And by the way I have no earthly idea what kinda wood that top is. This piece is like a Franken Chest, I just love all the variations in the wood colors.

There’s a lot going on with this piece, with all the Daisys and I really didn’t want to take anything away from all that. So when it was time to choose a drawer liner I went with something simple and black & white .
The blue hydrangea and the blue jar full of seashells were my Mama’s ya’ll. I was raised by a hydrangea nut therefore I am a hydrangea nut. I am also a peony nut. My Mama, not so much. Ruth Liford was a gardener deluxe. She could plant and make anything take root and flourish . It’s in out southern blood I guess.
Thanks for stopping in to see me.
Have a great week ahead. Paige
I’ve never heard of a Franken Chest! But another great transformation.
