Well it’s a brand new year and here I sit, watching the snow come down at last. As today is a work day , the snow has afforded me a few extra hours to stay home until the roads are in better shape. I hope all of ya’ll had a wonderful Christmas and New Years and are all happy and more importantly HEALTHY as ya’ll read this. We really enjoyed the 10 days we were off together at home and spent the vast majority of it in our feet pajamas, sleeping later that usual, holding cats and watching movies. I did, however take some time to find my next victim……..
Honest to God, this was the best pic in the FB Marketplace ad.
The rest of them were blurry.
So for some crazy reason I drove to South Carolina to check this baby out in person.
And she was soooooo with worth that drive!
The burl on those drawer fronts really came alive when I gave them a good coat of Howards Feed & Wax! Big Daddy brought this in to my life and I couldn’t be more grateful ya’ll. It brought out every single detail on these drawer fronts. In case you can’t tell, they are amazing.
I had already sanded down the top of this dresser and was just about to re stain it, but once I saw what the product did for the drawer fronts I used Howard’s on the top, no wood stain needed.
As I was working on the wooden parts of this dresser I was rolling around the hardware in my crazy little head. I was definitely sure that the simpler the better was the way to go. First off, I went through every single knob that I had in the house. That didn’t work out at all for me. This piece is decidedly French in design and nothing that I had in the house would compliment that style.
So as luck would have it, Hobby Lobby had a 50% off sale on their knobs. I had some form of a brass knob in my head the entire time but most of the brass knobs at Hobby Lobby were just too dark/ tarnished. If you recall the Dark blue desk I did before todays piece I had used Rub N Buff in the shade European Gold to liven up the original knobs and they turned out perfectly. I did the same trick on this piece and they look so good! It fits the piece better and really brings out the all the details in the flower knob.
I had some fun with the inside of these drawers ya’ll……..
I didn’t have enough of any od my black and white wallpaper to line all these deep drawers so I used a bit of a second pattern.
I did want to show ya’ll my new reindeer print ya’ll.
She is so lovely !
I think she’s a she anyway…….
