Historically I don’t keep a lot of the furniture I refinish. There is alway a hole or three down at the shop that needs filling so most everything goes down there. Over the last month with everything going on with my Dad I have an inordinate amount of holes. Painting furniture is the last thing on my mind. Then , like magic I ran across this piece…….
This chest was part of an estate sale near my house. It’s in amazing shape and the price was right:
$25!
As soon as I saw this chest I had green on my mind. Something muted. Something like an olive green. So after pulling out every single drop of paint I had in the house I settled on one.
Lord this piece checks all the boxes for me. Bow front, cool original hardware and sweet legs.
The original finish on the top I sanded down and restained it in Minwax Jacobean and sealed it with Howard’s Feed and Wax. I will put an affiliated link to the product at the end of the post if anyone is interested. This me that we make a small commission from your purchase while you cost remains the same.

Paige,
Just checking in on you & your sweet dad.
You’re in my thoughts & prayers. It’s a hard journey but you’ll get through it.
Just take some time for yourself.

Beverly it’s nice to hear from you. We all seem to be settling in to or new normal and so far my Dad seems content. We are doing Window visits now as the nursing facility is still on COVID lockdown.

Paige, I’m so sorry to read about all you’ve been going through! Your Dad sounds like a wonderful person who chose you to be his daughter. That makes him very special in my book. I think this beautiful green chest was placed before you because God knew you needed something to keep you going and keep you busy. Please do take care of yourself in the midst of taking care of your dad. Sounds like you are both lucky to have each other. I pray he does okay and that you can see him again very soon. Prayers!! 🙏🙏🙏

PS: The chest is beautiful! Green is my favorite and this one is a definite winner!
