I can not tell ya’ll enough how much all of the blog comments and personal messages on social media mean to both me and Big Daddy. We are thankful for each and every one of you that gave us comfort . And we will not forget it. Things have settled a bit around here. The nursing facility that my Dad is in is still on COVID lockdown. But last week Big Daddy suggested we go together for what they call a ‘Window Visit’. I said NO before he even got the words out. I was worried it would scare my Dad, crazy people at his window, that sort of thing. Big Daddy let it go for a day or two and them proposed that we call the facility and have them go to his room and explain why we are at the window instead of walking in to his room. Big Daddy also Google Earthed the nursing facility so we were standing at his window when the nurse opened his window blinds. The first thing he said to the nurse was, ‘ That’s my daughter !!!!’ Annnnnnd I cried my eyes out.
He looked good and was so happy to see us but we had to remind him over and over why we couldn’t come in the building. Today I got off work early and drove out to see him again and I didn’t cry at all. I guess I’m getting used to our new normal.
I have figured out that keeping things in our lives simple and quiet is easier on us . We have been staying home more. Back in the Spring of 2020 we hired someone to screen in our deck out back. We fell in love with it I believe before the contractor was pulling out of our driveway. With all of the stuff going on with my Dad it has been our sanctuary .
Today I want to share it with all of ya’ll.
The cats think we did all of this for them……….. and we just let them think that 😂😂😂
The four wicker chairs we have had for years. They were a Walmart purchase years ago and they have held up beautifully . The box cushions I picked up at Home Goods. The black and white lumbar pillows I made myself.
My favorite piece out here has got to be the coffee table ❤️❤️❤️
Now I am usually more frugal than this. For crazy me, this metal coffee table was a splurge. I was walking through Ross and there it was ! I really thought that Big Daddy would have a duck fit over it but he actually loves it! It brings some style to the space and some texture with the dimpled surface .
The outdoor rug was a $28 score at World Market with Free shipping! I knew I wanted to lean heavy on black and white out here so when I found the rug I jumped on it. It’s softer under foot than I thought it would be so that was a nice surprise since I rarely were shoes at home.
We also have a dining table out here that could 6 in a pinch…..
I found this teal table with a black metal bad on Amazon. We eat out here and also play games so it get quite a bit of use . One of the features of the table is that it can fold up vertically if we need more space. You may remember the black chairs from our kitchen 😊
Big Dady says I will put a candle in to anything . And he is correct! The lanterns were on clearance at Michael plus I have small white candles all around the perimeter walls.
Thank y’all for spending some time with me today!

So glad to hear that you’ve been able to window-visit with your dad! At least you’ve gotten to see each other. So happy for you! What a fab spot your newly screened in deck is! Looks great – love all the pieces out there. That’s where I’d have my morning coffee. So glad the kitties are enjoying it too!

Thank you Sheryl we just love it! It is my favorite coffee spot as well in the morning and wine spot in the evening. Just outside the porch is a perineal garden with a fountain we’ve had for years but it was in disrepair. The fountain not the plants! Big Daddy cleaned it up and put in a pump and now we all can enjoy it. Birds, chipmunks an all.

Beverly I ❤️ You! We are doing well and I hope ya’ll are. I finally got to lay eyes and arms on my Dad last Monday after 5 weeks of window visits. He appears to be content in the nursing facility, sleeps most of the time and they remind him continuously about everything he’s forgets.

Wonderful!
We had to do window visits with my mother & mother in law for a year!
But it worked out.
I am thrilled for you & your precious Daddy.
