Way, way back in February we got a call from some friends about a piece of furniture that needed a home. Like I have said many times before: if you paint furniture ? Eventually the furniture will come to you.
Good problem to have ya’ll 🙂
So off I shot to Brevard, N.C., the land of waterfalls. This particular piece belonged to our dear friend’s Mother. So on principle ? I wasn’t leaving Brevard without it. All the way home I was thinking gray. So as soon as I unloaded the piece I slapped some gray paint on one leg…………..and starred at it. Blankly. For a while…… Ya’ll, gray was not the color for Sara’s Mama’s piece. And there she sat until last week.
I was out in the garage digging for God knows what when I moved some boxes and crap from around that chest of drawers, and I noticed bits of old green paint on the worn edges of the drawers. Now Sara’s Mama had striped this piece clean of almost any prior finish, except the green bits in the cracks of the dovetails. I just thought to myself, Alright Sara’s Mama.
GREEN it will be.
My current favorite green is Amulent Furniture & Decor paint’s Olive Branch. It is a dark olive green. It took 2 coats to cover this piece with very few touchups. The top is stained in Maxwax Driftwood.
The sunflower knobs are from Hobby Lobby. I’ve been holding on to a bunch of them, just waiting for the right piece to come along.
I had quite a bit of fun with the drawers ya”ll :))))))))
How fun is this paper, I ask ya’ll?????
Just take a moment and look at all those colors!
The coral is just gorgeous!!! I will include a link to it at the end of the post if anyone is interest. I really enjoy lining the drawers in all the pretty papers, be it peel and stick wallpaper, pretty contact / shelf paper or wrapping paper. I really don’t know what took me so long to try it. I do prefer the wallpaper and shelf paper because they can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
I hope all ya’ll are having great Summer!
