I panic when I can not find furniture to refinish.
Fact.
I toil under the fear that good used furniture will become nonexistent. I love what I do so much that the thought of it disappearing makes me crazy. If you need confirmation of this fact ? Just speak with Big Daddy. He will give you an earful. I absolutely love the entire process of taking a castoff piece of furniture and making it useful again. So much so that it makes me an absolute nut when I can’t find good stuff to work on. I have a hard , cold business model and about four rules to run it by. VERY high on that list is don’t drag home previously painted furniture.
A couple of weeks ago a friend of ours (who lives in a HUGE neighborhood) called to say that a neighbor of his had a free dresser……..and did we want it. This is music to my ears any day of the week ya’ll.
There was only one catch:
it was already painted. A darker blue……….. when we got it out of my Murano?
I just sat and starred at it…….. for a while………in silence.
Then I put on my Big Girl panties.
The top was amazing ya’ll.
I contacted the lady we got it from and she said she used Minwax Ebony stain. Of all the Minwax stains I’ve used I have never tried this color. Going forward I certainly will now!
I painted the body of the dresser Fusion Mineral paint’s Pebble. It is a warm , light gray. I wanted something softer and more neutral than the blue that was on it and it sure shows off that pretty ebony top ya’ll!
For the drawers I chose one of the black and white peel and stick paper that I had on hand. Black and white has become a favorite neutral to me. It competes with nothing. The antique brass knobs are from Hobby Lobby on clearance . They are just substantial and classic enough to dress this peice up a bit without being too much. The antique brass rectangular pulls are from amazon and I will put a link to then]m at the end of this post. They are slim, sleek and streamlined making them a frequent flyer in my hardware rotation. And not to mention the fact that they are affordable which never hurts.
I got these gorgeous roses at Trader Joes.
I have never seen any like this. They are called Country Roses.
One more…….
We are knocking on the door to the weekend ya’ll
