It seems to be raining desks and side tables around here lately, which is a good thing. I love to refinish both of them and they seem to fly outa my shop 🙂
Today’s victim
Take a good look at this before photo ya’ll. This sold (and heavy!) maple desk was pretty beat up. As an added bonus candle wax abounds on it and the hardware is dated. Please look past every single thing that I just mentioned because all that can be fixed. This baby is finished all the way around, no unfinished backside here :))). After a much needed surface and drawer cleaning it already looked much better. You know me though……….I ain’t stopping there.
I’m still bitter from the loss of General Finishes chalk paint line, even with the hoard of it that I bought from my local retailer when news of it’s demise hit this house.
This is Nantucket Green, a perfect Spring green.
Lord the movement on this maple top! Whoever said maple was boring was nuts. This top is exceptional.
Let’s talk about the hardware for a moment. I love me some cup pulls ya’ll and I use them often. Lately I have been gravitating toward these more rectangular ones versus the more traditional rounded ones. The antique bronze ones that I’ve used on this desk are a recent find that I’m super happy with. I will leave a link ant the bottom of this post if anyone is as crazy as me :)))
The gray and antique knobs were actually a Marshals find, 8 for 7.99 .
You can not beat that with a stick ya’ll! It is such a show in this house when I am trying to pick out hardware for a piece. I literally drag out every single knob and pull I own and it is all over the floor in what ever space I’m working in.
Drives Big Daddy nuts.
For the drawers I chose a Waverly wallpaper that I’ve had for a while.
It’s a Jacobean pattern with the same green in it as the paint I’ve used. I am particularly fond of Jacobean prints in general.
If I haven’t told ya’ll enough how much I appreciate you, I sure do :))))
Ya’ll enjoy this beautiful day!

Okay, well first of all, I think I mentioned on your Instagram post how much I love this green!! But wait! Jacobean??!! I instantly googled it, and sure enough – all those lovely floral patterns are “Jacobean” ! You just taught me something new! I am also drawn to these kinds of floral patterns, but never realized they actually had name!! Thank you for that!
