We’ve had this conversation before, about my love of all things French. Well insert BIG GOOGLY EYES right here, right now. I would but I can’t figure out how to get emojis in to a blog post. The French have a lovely shade of blue that is juuuuust amazing to me. It’s a lighter blue with just a bit of green in it. Not an aqua, nor a sky blue, no turquoise either……..
Today’s victim ya’ll.
Yea. I broke my neck to get this piece . This antique desk had me at hello. Lord, the legs on it!!!!! I really don’t actually know if it is a desk. With that cross piece underneath, it make me think library table. The two small , perfectly round holes in the top for a mirror make me think vanity. As always I appreciate any information y’all can give me about this one. I can say that the very nice folks that I bought this piece from were not born in the South, but retired here.
When it comes to color I try to let the piece tell me what color. I’m sure this makes a sense that’s not. Let me put it a different way : Very often pieces of furniture make a masculine or feminine impression on me. Depending on my impression of the piece’s style , then I can see a color or colors . Next, I narrow it down from there.
Obviously I saw this desk as feminine :)))
I have been hanging on to these pottery knobs for a few years now , just waiting on the right drawer in the right piece of furniture. I have to say it was worth that wait ya’ll. The color is Fusion Mineral paint’s French Eggshell. In other words?.
A French Blue.
When I sanded the top down the mahogany was super red. I stained the top in Minwax Jacobean to neutralize that red as much as possible. Jacobean does a great job with that. The top was sealed in 3 Coates of Minwax Poly in satin.
I will leave a link to the peel and stick wallpaper I used in all the drawers at the end of the post if anyone is interested. It will be an affiliated link, which means that we make a small commission from your purchase but your cost remains the same.
I took a little break last week just to rest and recharge. It is just amazing what sleep and sunshine will do for you :)))
Have a great week ya’ll!
