I am SUPER particular about what I stock in my shop.
And by particular, I really mean borderline nuts. First, I try my best to keep everything that I offer in my tiny shop to be somewhere on the spectrum that is my own personal taste. I also strive to offer more interesting and semi unusual pieces, especially when it comes to furniture. It is not the easiest stuff to find on a good day. During a pandemic it’s even more challenging, but last week I picked up something pretty special ya’ll
Squeal!!!!!!!
Theses are the before’s.
You can see the peeling veneer on the right side as well as a big mark in the middle of the top. I’m guessing a plant sat there and left a BIG water mark. All I saw when I tripped over it at my Goodwill were all those details, ALL over the front!!!!! And they are all intact. I hardly ever get that lucky ya’ll.
I have been working through all my paint, trying to use up the older ones before that are no longer usable. I chose a green color from Country Chic paints called Woodland. It had now been discontinued but I had just enough to finish this lovely cedar lined chest.
Here’s the BIG deal about this chest.
Can you see the KEY sticking out of the lock? I have NEVER had luck like this . I was paying for the chest when the nice lady at my Goodwill informed me that they actually had the key to it back in the office. I just about passed out on the spot.
The top turned out amazing :))))
I mixed several bits of stain that I had to get this shade. Each can didn’t have enough stain in it to cover anything so I mixed Minwax Jacobean, Weathered Oak and Driftwood.
I’m not really sure what wood this is but sure is gorgeous. Maple maybe??
The original stain was dark and covered up all this pretty.
This would make a perfect coffee table 🙂
Have a great week ya’ll!

It’s beautiful! And to have the key is an added bonus. I have church pew – just a part of one – that I am going to refinish this summer. I love the use of Minwax Jacobean on the furniture you do. Your use of it has convinced me that that is what I’m going to use on the pew. I’ve gone back and looked at some of your things, and I really like it on the top of Drexel (posted 8/20). I’ll see how it turns out.

Thanks for making me laugh….”…I almost passed out!” Love a little bit of dramatic effect!! This really did turn out beautifully. The color suits the piece. The dark moody green on a cloudy cool day just invites you to open the chest and grab and cozy throw or blanket. You bring your pieces to life !!

Thank you Tammie! You would have never known that top was that pretty under all that old finish. I try my best to do natural tops on all of my pieces. I just think they wear a bit better, plus I love, LOVE to play in wood stain.
