I have had this cabinet so long I can not find the original photo ya’ll. I found it on FB Marketplace for $40 which I felt was a steal, but when we got it home and set it up the top and bottom did not fit together at all. So there it has set waiting for us to figure out. Weeks turned to months, months to over a year………
Til last weekend:)))))
When I very first saw this cabinet on FB I felt like it was a European piece, but the very nice lady who sold it to me said it was make in the north eastern U.S. I painted it in General Finishes Perfect Gray mostly because I needed it to go with this really cool wallpaper :). Yes. I am so crazy like that. The original shelves were warped beyond help so I went to Lowes and purchased some shelf boards and stained them in Minwax Jacobean. The dark rich color of the stain is really nice with with the colors in the wallpaper.
The curvy little legs (8 of them!) are on caster making it much easier to more around. There is also lots of storage behind the doors on the bottom.
So how did we mange to get the top and bottom of this one to fit together?
We just turned the top 180 degrees……………..
We had it on UPSIDE DOWN!
Lord help us ya’ll………
On a more personal note I have my last COVID shot this week 🙂

Nicely done. It looks like a Heywood-Wakefield piece to me. They have a long history of building wooden furniture in New England (Massachusetts) and their pieces were particularly popular in the mid-century modern era of the 1940s-50s. The company was acquired in 1992, but still produces pieces with a new take on their earlier mid-century style.

I would totally make a space around that gorgeous wallpaper, makes the piece IMO. I was SICK after my 2nd vaccine. temperature, nausea, aches….all of it. But SO worth it, 7 more days and I get to go out and about more, 1st stop, thrift store! then breakfast at a diner. Fingers crossed for you.

As usual, so darn pretty! You have a great eye for color and re-inventing these pieces.
I LOL’d at the upside down remark – I had to go back and look at the top again to see how that could happen. And it made sense!
