Last week I stuck a deal on Facebook Marketplace for a set of bedside tables and I am here to tell ya’ll that I will never get this lucky again.
I was thinking these might paint up nice.
Now?
Nice was not a big enough word.
Lord the details on these!!!!
I thought they were cute in the FB photo but they seem to really come alive I painted them. I painted all the smooth surfaces first and let them dry. Next I turned my attention to a all those details. If ya’ll recall from my last black piece I used a wash technique only on the carved wooden pulls ,where I would paint them and then wipe off the paint. I used that same technique on these lovelies as well. Just so happens they had lots more details to wash.
I went with a raw finish on the front legs which means I hand sanded the old finish down as much as I could and then applied a clear wax to seal and protect them. I do love the contrast it gives the black painted body .
I also sealed the details I washed with clear wax as well.
For the drawers I used tobacco color paper from Society6.
I have had this linen look paper for months but never had the opportunity to use it till now.
Ya’ll I used all but about a 1/4 cup of my very last can of General Finishes Black Pepper chalk paint. This line was discontinued a while back so there’s no replacing it. It’s sad to me. It is my favorite back ever, perfectly matte.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Paige
