On Thursday I got my second can of The Chippy Barn’s Amulent Furniture and Decor paint :))))))) Just image me standing at the dining room window giving our very nice mail lady the cold, hard stare as she was getting my mail in order and then cramming that can of paint in to our mailbox………
What? Like ya’ll don’t do that??????
Whatever.
Here’s the next side table, and she’s a beaut;)
Yea. I’m not sure what went on with this one either.
She was also pretty beat up. This photo was after I had sanded the oak top down and I am in love with that natural top! I am thinking this used to be a washstand, maybe? I didn’t try to reinvent the wheel here. I kept in simple and classic.
Give me any shade of white & wood all day long.
And Lord that top! I left a lot of these cut marks and imperfections and I love how it turned out. There is now stain on this top. I sanded it as smooth as I wanted and then sealed it in Annie Sloan clear wax.
Thoughts?
This color is called Modern Lace and it is a lovely cream color that pulls a bit of beige. Sometimes I just don’t have it in me to paint white because it take so many coats to cover but this white took 2 coats plus a few touch up’s, and that was it. So far I am 2 for 2 on this Amulent paint. I am in love with the way the distressed top plays with the paint color. I also made a conscience decision to not use shiny hardware either.
The fluted cup pulls are from Sumner Street and it looks like old galvanized metal.
For the single drawer I lined it in a fern paper from Society6. I will leave an affiliated link at the end of the post for those that are interested. That means that we make a commission from your purchase while your cost remains the same. It’s a clean classic botanical paper and that’s all this piece needed.
I really love all of the muted greens.
Let me just run this amazing top (that I had nothing to do with) in to the ground a bit more.
We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning :))))
Have a good week ya”ll!
Paige

I wonder if this could have been a student desk from a school? Either way, it’s charming and such a nice combination of elements – natural top, paint color, dark matte drawer pulls – well done yet again.

Leslie I’m not sure what it’s original identity was but it was too cute to not pick up. Thank you my sweet friend.
