We are forecasted to have somewhat of an ice storm tonight in western North Carolina. Personally we don’t have many of those here and I much prefer snow, if there’s a vote. We never get enough snow here to suit me. Ice storms here consist of no power, no opening the fridge, digging our air mattresses out of the garage and sleeping on the living room floor in front of our gas fireplace. So this evening, before the crap hits the fan here I wanted to share with ya’ll my latest paint color from The Chippy Barns’s Amulent paint line………. and I do not have a before shot.
This color is called Balsam :))))))
It is a lovely shade of aqua. Speaking of what this piece looked like when I hauled it home, Let me just say that the sticker price from Goodwill was $15. And they actually looked at me funny as they put it in my Jeep. Someone had really beat the top and drawer fronts up like crazy. I did more prep on this piece that I do on 90% of my furniture projects but good junk furniture is not as plentiful as it was before COVID was a household word. I just told myself it doesn’t stink and it is not at all rickety and in the Jeep it went.
The wood on the top was a veneer and by the time I sanded down all the damage the top was smooth as silk but not stain worthy if that makes any sense at all. The paint did the rest and now it has a silky smooth finish! The glass knobs are from TJ MAXX, $8 for a 6 pack. It is definitely worth sticking your head in there to see what knobs they have because they are often a hell of a deal. Just saying’……. At my TJ MAXX the knobs are over in the towel bar / basket area.
I am not really sure what this piece is. To me it looks like and measured like a smaller buffet of sideboard. Aside from the $15 price tag I really go nuts when I see all these curves! The details on the skirt are too sweet to not want to save.
For the drawer liner I had some of this Candice Olson wallpaper left from another project and it was perfect for the Balsam aqua. It’s a peel and stick paper which is much, MUCH easier to use for my arthritic hands. I will include a affiliated link to the wallpaper below this for anyone who is interested. This means that we make a small commission from you purchase while your actual cost remains the same.
This is one of my favorite wallpapers :))))
Such a lovely color for a really sweet piece ya’ll !
