Ya’ll I can not , for the life of me bring a dresser home with me.
I am not kidding one bit. The last dresser I painted was before Thanksgiving. I can find them alright. I just can not make myself pay $150 for something I’d have to put a GOB of money in to just to break even.
What I have lucked up on lately are little side tables.
Today’s victim.
This side table is just about perfect. It is solid mahogany, well made and heavy. The only damage it had was on the top and I was going to sand that down anyway so not an issue.
Ya’ll I love this thing!
My very favorite aspect of this project is that gorgeous grain on the top! When I sanded the damage off the top I had beautiful, super pale wood . I was not about to put a dark stain on this one and I am so happy I stuck to that.
There are no drawers in this piece but there is ample storage behind those doors so………
I found a place to cram in some pretty wallpaper :)))))
I painted this piece with a new paint that I am super happy with ya’ll.
Lets talk about furniture paint for a little.
This is all just my opinion, mind you. I use about 4 popular furniture paints regularly: Fusion Mineral , General Finishes, Dixie Belle and on occasion Country Chic. They are all good paint lines with minimal to no prep and self priming. The most important quality in a paint for me is that the paint self levels. This means little to no brush marks because nobody wants a piece of furniture that looks like a kindergarten class painted it. I paint with a brush, not a paint sprayer. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis. The self leveling properties enable me to turn out a more polished and professional product.
Ya’ll.
I can not find any brush marks on this little table.
Hand to God.
This paint is thicker that any of the ones I use in regular rotation, listed above. It clings to the brush better but is not at all hard to apply. I have already ordered my second color and it should be here by the weekend 🙂
This is gonna be fun ya’ll !

PS: Big Daddy has claimed this piece for his own 8))))))
