I hope all ya’ll had the Christmas of your dreams this year and are all well rested, warm and cozy where ya’ll are. The MOST rare and amazing thing happened here in western North Carolina, something I pray for every year. We had white Christmas!!!! In Asheville proper it is super rare to have snow at Christmas, maybe a handful of times in my whole life. It was also the first time Big Daddy and I have ever gotten to actually stay at home for Christmas and Christmas Day. We stayed in our feety pajamas the entire time. We love the snow in general but for it to shut down the eastern part of this state?
It was nothing short of magical ya’ll :))
Today’s victim:
This oak cabinet is solid as a rock but needed some TLC and a style update. I started by refinishing the oak top then a fun paint color and drawer liner did the rest.
The oak grain on the top is amazing. I used Minwax Jacobean on this as well a several coats of their poly. I didn’t really notice the pegs in the top until I sanded off the old finish. I love the character it lends to the piece.
I used the same green paint and the black and white plaid paper on this cabinet as I did on the green chest of drawers I shared with ya’ll a few weeks ago. I love this combination! I did change up the hardware to matte black cup pulls and knobs. This is a more casual piece, almost a bit primitive. Any shiny hardware would have been a mess in my opinion.
This little Goober……… nosiest boy ever!
I can’t remember if I have ever lined the inside of any cabinet before. I can tell ya’ll that I hate to paint insides of cabinets. Wallpapering is way, way easier and easier to clean. The papers can be wipes down with a damp cloth.
Goober #2……..
Nothing gets by them.
Biggest ears I have ever seen on a cat.
Have a great week ahead ya’ll!

Love the color, hardware and paper liner choices, of course, but, I have to say, those furry critters totally make this piece…lol.

I can just hear your goobers saying: “But Mama, that’s our JOB!!” (At least, that’s what mine always say!) Love this piece; it’s simple and rustic, and clear so useful. The magnolia leaves are the prefect touch !!!
