I was looking back through the years that I have been writing this little ol’ blog from Asheville and it occurred to me that just about every November and December I paint a piece of second hand furniture some shade of green. I love green personally , and just about any shade of it. But there is a certain shade of green that really represents Christmas to me, the color of my magnolia that I drape on anything that will stand still in my home at Christmas, the color of a balsam pine tree and the color of the Hemlocks in my yard.
And that shade is an olive green.
Fusion Mineral paint’s Bayberry.
To me, the color of Christmas.
So, here’s the Before :
Yeah.
It was absolute work.
But with those Hepplewhite pulls???? I could not walk away from this chest of drawers is I tried! I paid $45 for this piece. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot but I have a margin to meet and I was pretty sure the pulls alone were worth that. I spent an entire day on refinishing this piece (minus the poly drying time between coats). The paint took two coats to give me really good coverage and the depth of color that I wanted. The top is a combination Minwax Jacobean and Provincial stains, mostly Provincal.
But the drawers in this piece are the show ………
I made the pom pom wreath myself last week ya’ll, out of pom pom trim I got from Hobby Lobby 🙂
I found this peel and stick liner paper on Amazon and I will link to it at the end of this post for anyone who is as crazy as me because I am so in love with it!!!! It is not an actual wallpaper. It is a shelf paper which is thinner but still wipeable. And the price, at under $14 is sweet!
So what Christmas projects are ya’ll up to?
Paige
