I have a habit of panicking when I can’t find pieces of furniture for my shop ……. and I grab whatever I can luck up on. By ‘Grab’ I mean I just pay for it and run home, without looking it over really, really well. On a few select occasions all’s well that ends well. Most of the time I am not that fortunate.
This weeks disaster.
When I got it home and took some time to go over the entire piece I felt like I just wadded up a $20 bill and flushed it down the toilet. I sat out in the garage for a long time weighing my odds, for and against this pretty cute but super beat up antique dresser……..and then I got out the wood putty and my sander and dove right in.
Elbow grease and tenacity I got plenty of.
Truth be told I was not letting these sweet legs go to waste.
I did however limit my resources on this one though. The top was not salvageable. I used the Homestead Blue paint I already had and hardware leftover from past projects. Nothing makes me feel better than atoning for too hasty a buy. I think that I have told ya’ll this but I stick to my business model reeeeeligously. As my accountant says, I am serious as hell about my little company. That keeps me in the black and on the correct side of The IRS ya’ll.
This particular wallpaper was a buck at my goodwill ya’ll.
Except for the shawl everything you see here was second hand. The fern print was a $7 Goodwill find and I am reasonably sure that it is not leaving this house. The antique books come from all over, specifically for their color. The woven tray and the Hobby Lobby quote were also Goodwill scores.
The pulls were frugal Amazon finds and I will link to them at the bottom of post.
Homestead Blue to me is actually a teal blue (as opposed t0 a teal green).
It is a rich, deep jewel toned blue.
Looking at the dresser now?
I am positive it was $2o well spent.
