Today’s Victim is one of several, several Broyhill pieces I have had the pleasure of refinishing over the last 7 or so years. The funny thing is that they are all from the same collection.
Let’s jump right in, shall we?
This is either a small dresser or a really BIG night table.
Your call……
Either way it is from their Fontana collection, circa 1992, if I’m not mistaken. I know this well because when Big Daddy and I bought our first house the people up the street, the Mckinney’s had every bedroom piece they made. It is solid pine and very well made so when I find a piece I grab it, if it’s reasonably priced. All of the other mates to this one I have painted white. This time I chose GF’s perfect gray and I am really glad I did. This gray tends to bring things more current and today’s victim could benefit from that.
In decent shape and once again Lily is my copilot :). I painted Mac’s tail once, not on purpose .
But he has never forgotten it.
She passed out early on and slept until I was actually finished with this one. I had to pick her up and move her to the living room to stain the top.
The top is Minwax provincial stain and it really did the trick! On this pine top it corrected all the orange and has become a very warm brown that works quite well with the gray.
The knobs I had in my stash are from Hobby Lobby. I have used them a lot on other pieces that I have refinished but until now I have never turned them like this, in a diamond shape. Big Daddy did point out that I was crazy for doing that……….Like I ain’t heard that crap 500 times before…….. They are big and bold, with a kinda cream wash over a dark stain and they do make an impact!
The drawer liner is a from Amazon but the pattern is so popular you could probably get it anywhere. I have been eyeing it for a while and when the price dropped I pulled the trigger. I will include the link at the bottom if anyone is interested. I will say it was a bit harder to work with than other wallpapers I have tried.
Who does not LOVE a big pile of pumpkins???
I have been collecting them for years. The greenish and the whites are my favorite to pick up.
Thank ya’ll for stopping in to see me !

So glad you did this little night stand/dresser as I, too, have had Fontana pieces in my master bedroom for 25 years – the dresser, head and foot boards, and a pair of night stands (not the mini-dresser). I still love them, but have been thinking for quite a while that the natural pine needs to be painted, maybe in creamy white, taupe or dark navy. Not sure yet, as I’ve seen a number of painted versions of these pieces on Pinterest, but I was interested to read your comments and to see how your grey choice worked out so nicely on this solid, sturdy piece. So glad Lily approves, too.

Leslie glad I could help! I also thought about trading the bun feet for something more curvy :). I’m crazy like that.
