OK, I need to apologize right now for the buttload of photos in this post ya’ll.

Solid oak, sweet legs, I could not wait to pick this thing up!
Ya’ll I am obsessed with this table, like Crazy Train obsessed. I want a pair of them for my living room. I hope you can tell from these photos that top????? It is soooo beautiful :). The table was in really good shape to begin with . For me it was a little orange and a little shiny . So I sanded that oak top down and restrained it with Minwax Jacobean wood stain then sealed it with 3 coats of poly in satin. The legs and apron are painted in General Finishes chalk paint in Black Pepper. Black Pepper is a perfect matte black, no sheen what so ever.
Lord the wood grain ya’ll !
I will say that the original finish didn’t quite do this top justice.
In my opinion all I actually did was, in the words of my Mama, tone this thing down some. No shiny, no orange and warmer, richer color. My entire house is like that and we really enjoy, well, the calm. If that makes any sense at all. I am now officially on the hunt for a pair of these .
One more……….
I love that little snake tail ya’ll 🙂

I agree – the orange shiny paint did nothing for this table! As usual, though, your ability to see it differently paid off big time. It’s really beautiful! I hope you can find a match! The wood grain is gorgeous!!
