L. O. R. D……….
It is so hot and muggy here ya’ll.
Personally? I am a sun worshiper but I can not stand this weather. I don’t sweat well. No, that’s not quite accurate……. I HATE TO SWEAT!!!! So now you know. I wish Big Daddy would know. I am actually really excited to show ya’ll today’s furniture makeover! Let me just say that I spend way, WAY too much time on Pinterest ya’ll, but every now and then I come across a really fun idea.
Today’s Victim:
This is the actual FB Marketplace ad photo. It ended up being a great chest of drawers, clean, solid wood and in good condition. The price was great and the sweet lady met me right by my house. You can not beat that deal with a stick ya’ll!!!
So I had this design idea in my crazy little head for this one. I wanted to do a two toned effect but with a fun twist on the Halfer Dresser, if that makes any sense. I wanted more that just a lovely wood top.
So I sanded down the top of this Maple dresser and just about a third of the way down the sides and a couple of the drawers.
Hear’s what I ended up with…..
Ya’ll this darling chest of drawers was painted using a Frog Tape product call Shape Tape. Long story short? I am obsessed with it! Look how crisp the edges are!
The Shape Tape comes in a roll just like the regular Frog Table except it has a backing paper. It is not at all hard to apply, but its tricky to level. If you really go strictly by the directions on the package it works great!
I used Minwax Provincial stain on the top portion of this chest and about 1/3 of the way down the piece, including the first drawer and about half of the second one. I allowed the stain to dry for three days then I applied the Shape Tape and painted the rest of the way down (3 coats) with Fusion’s Casement. I let the last coat of paint dry for I hour and then I removed that tape 🙂
This was a fun little paper in these drawers ya’ll! It is a lime to olive green and really looks so fresh with the wood and white combo.
Here’s the link to the paper:
I was quite the show in our dining room as I was trying to decide on a drawer paper ya’ll! I had paper slung from Hell to breakfast and all over every flat surface in the room. I am quite pleased with my choice on this one though :))))
The oak knobs I got unfinished from Amazon. The fact that they are square really upped the interest and style of this chest AND at $13 for 10 of them, we came I under budget.
Here’s the link to those oak knobs:
And the Shape Tape:
One more :)))
Hope ya’ll’s weekend is lovely!
