As a rule, I don’t drag home anything that I can not at the least triple my money on.
Seriously.
This had been my ( one and only ) business model since I began this wild ride almost seven years ago. Now I have to say that it has served me well. I have stuck to it hard and fast over the years…… with a few exceptions. Today’s victim is one of those exceptions.
L.O.R.D.
This little server and all of her curves drove me nuts for 2 week until I finally tucked my tail between my legs and paid Goodwill’s price and drove it home in shame, knowing that I will probably just double my investment. On the drive home I am reconciling every single thing about this purchase like a lunatic : no new paint for this one, I have to use what I have including hardware, this thing can not need any repairs………. you get the gist. The guilt consumes me for several days and then I finally, finally have a moment to fire up my orbital, dig through my paint cabinet and knob hoard and see what I have actually got my hands on.
Curves for days ya’ll!
I had just a dab of Dixie Belle Vintage Duck Egg paint left in my paint cabinet. The pale aqua paint was perfect on this piece! The server is smaller than a buffet but it has stylish curves. The aqua paint really elevated it.
The glass knob is my very favorite glass knob from Hobby Lobby and I love the back plate! I have used this particular one many times. To me they look like a crystal ball. It is so very feminine :))))
The stain is another Rustoleum stain called Barrel Brown. Barrel Brown is actually a gray. I have to say it looks good with the aqua but I am really on the fence with this one.
The little gold bird I found at Michaels a couple days ago and he is darling! He’s in their Fall decor and at 30% off he was seven bucks!
There is only one drawer in this piece so in my opinion the liner paper needed to be quite special, only one chance to make a statement, right?
This is a gorgeous teal and aqua paper ya’ll. Here’s the link:
So we will see if I loose my butt on this one but I just love it!

The stain on the top appears so uneven. Not up to your beautiful standards. Trust your instincts. The blue is gorgeous.

Someone will come along and fall in love with this piece. Go ahead and mark it 3 X what you paid for it. You can always come down. I love your blog!

Rebecca you are so kind to say that :). Thank you! I split the difference on the price.

Paige, I have to tell you how very much I love your candor! Talking about how you’ll use ONLY what you already have in your stash, and how you’ll justify the price of the piece and what you’ll make (or not make!) on it is SO honest and true to what all of us who do this go through!! This table is just lovely and it will be perfect in whatever home it ends up gracing. Thanks for being so authentic!!
