If you follow along with me on Instagram then you saw earlier this week that I have been working on refinishing and restyling a vintage sewing table/ cabinet. Here’s the Before:
See that little shelf underneath?
This one was a $20 find at my Goodwill. It was also an archeological dig. It was piled high with other junk on it when I walked right by it in the Goodwill. It was actually on my way out that I noticed a leg and thought I might wanna brave the load of crap on top to check it out.
Good thing I’m nosey :))))
This thing is darling ya’ll.
The body of the piece is painted in General Finishes Perfect Gray, the best warm medium gray furniture paint out there, in my crazy little opinion. And it doesn’t pull a bit of blue. It was a two coat paint job to get really good coverage and color saturation. I am rarely a one coat painter, due in large part to the fact that I have lost a considerable amount of fine motor skills in my hands/ fingers from doing OB/GYN ultrasound for over 30 years. Thank God for whoever came up wth self leveling paint!
The top is kinda weird on this piece, as it once held a sewing machine. You can see in the above photo where the panel in the middle opens. Now there is just a self there. If one used this piece for a desk it’s a great place for storing ink pens or mail.
The hardware was all from my stash and all came from Amazon.
I love the look of antique brass and cream knobs with a warm gray paint, as evidenced in my living room :). The color/ metal combo ends up being quite neutral and soothing to me.
The little shelf underneath I piled with antique book that I just can’t get enough of. They add texture and interest anywhere I put them. They are quieter when displayed spine to the back, in my opinion.
This table is just lovely ya’ll, but the sweet little legs just make it!
This would also make a great entry table or buffet for a smaller dining space ya’ll.
I really heart the linen look of this particular paper !!!!
Here’s the link to the drawer liner paper:
Thank ya’ll for stopping in to visit me !
