******** First of all let me say that I didn’t invent this. I did read an article by the inventor though. You can find it here: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/6-thrift-store-end-table-a-video-on-how-to-line-a-drawer-with-fabric/*********
Second , let me say that I have no earthly idea why it took me so long to start lining drawers in the first place. In my crazy little head I get really excited about a piece and I just dive in head first. One day in late Winter of this year I just decided to give lining drawers with decorative papers a shot………and I was hooked! It does take practice though, and good paper. I have used nice, heavier weight , off the shelf gift wrap like from Marshalls of TJ MAXX and it does well. The problem with those two stores is they are just catch as can, meaning the supply is not consistent. So in the wee hours of the morning internet searches I came up with Society6. The one and only problem with Society6 that I have found is their shipping times, running about 10 days. Amazon has really ruined us on super fast shipping, ain’t it?
I have since learned to plan ahead better.
So …….. go get a drawer and let’s get started.
Here’s what you will need for this project:
drawer
spray adhesive
sharp scissors
heaver decorative paper/ gift wrap
#1.
Clean the drawer!!!
Vacuum out every last millimeter of that drawer, use the crevice tools and wipe it out with a cloth or bleach wipes and let it dry completely. Any stray bit if debris or grit means a bump under your lovely paper.
#2.
Turn your clean, dry drawer upside down.
See that space inside the framed edge of the drawer? We will use that to size our paper to fit the drawer bottom.
#3.
Fit the paper in to the frame of the drawer on one side. This is important because if your paper is perfectly flush in that corner your first cut will be straight. Keep a finger or something on that corner paper and don’t let it move.
#4.
Take your other hand and run your finger over the paper up the inside edge of the drawer frame to make a definite crease. Also do this on the top edge of the paper all well . These two creases will be your cut lines. Don’t let the paper move and your line will be straight. I make about a 4 inch long crease to get me started.
#5.
See the crease on the back side?
Now Society6 paper has this awesome grid pattern on the back, thank God! Cut as straight as possible down both of the creases that you’ve made. be sure to test fit the cut piece of paper in the drawer bottom and trim any excess to fit the drawer bottom as closely as possible.
#6.
Take your cut to size paper, your drawer and your spray adhesive OUTSIDE.
After trying several brands of spray adhesive I really like 3M. The main reason is the spray nozzle. Big Daddy gave me some he had out in The Hell Hole and I loved it!
It’s rectangular .
It will spray about a 2 inch line of adhesive,
#7.
Spray all the way around the edge of the draw bottom, taking great care to get right up to the sides of the drawer but NOT up the sides. This takes practice, but this particular nozzle helps ALOT! Then lightly fill in the entire bottom of the drawer. If you spray too thick it will soak through your paper. You do not want that mess, trust me.
#8.
Now it’s time to adhere the paper to the bottom of the drawer. You can reposition the paper for a couple minutes. after that the adhesive is not as forgiving. I personally work front to back of the drawer, smoothing it down with my hands gently as I go. If you press too hard the paper will tear. Slow and steady, all the way to the back, then re press the corners.
Now admire your lovely drawer 🙂
I really hope this helps 🙂

Lord, I hope ya’ll understand all this……..
