Even with a Mama who was an avid antiques collector I have never ran across one of these in person…….
And I have never even heard of one for $50.
The nice young couple I got this from got stuck with this amazing chest of drawers when they helped a friend move and I was ever so happy to take it off their hands. It was in perfect shape with big , good, sturdy drawers and super cool original pulls, only missing one from that sweet little glove box ! The only flaw, so to speak was the missing trim in the middle that I didn’t care a wit about anyway. I drove like a maniac to get this baby back to the safety of my home …….and then I sat in the floor in front of it, crosslegged trying to puzzle out in my crazy little head what would be the right way to handle it. And I hope that I have done the right thing………
Somehow between the time the picture was taken for the FB Marketplace ad and me getting this chest in to my house the small knob on the glove box was gone. Just to show you the hoarder I actually am, I had an identical one in my stash :))))
It took 3 coated of Fusion Mineral paint’s Casement to get this kind of coverage and that was every single drop that I had in my house. I wanted to leave the legs and the glove box raw from the moment I laid eyes on this piece, so that worked out. I would have been in a hell of a mess if it hadn’t because Fusion paint is now quite hard to come by during this Pandemic Mess.
And, the surprise in those big ‘ol drawers?
This marigold paper was the very first paper I purchased to line my drawers with. I love it!!!! I just hadn’t found the right piece of furniture to use it in till this beauty come along.

This chest is probable 1930’s – 1940’s.
Somebody really love this thing for it to be in this excellent condition. I hope the folks who end up with it love it just as much <3

That paper is simply stunning. I also love the color of the wood. But I think the paint color is just too stark. I think the green in the paper would have been a more complementary choice. White painted furniture is not quite as popular as it once was In my State.. Your Beautiful blues and greens that you often choose are the money makers here in Michigan. I love almost every single piece of furniture that you restore. You have a wonderful eye for great looking pieces that you transform into treasures. I look forward to every post and I have learned a lot from you. Your attention to detail is an inspiration.
