Ya’ll.
I can not lay off these.
Believe me.
I’ve tried.
But……. not real hard.
I never said that I tried hard not to drag another French Provincial piece of furniture home with me :))))
Y’all this one is just darling, as my good friend and across the street neighbor Wendy would say. It is darling and BIG! It would be the perfect size cocktail table in front of my couch in our living room. It’s that big. It is also in the best condition of any piece of furniture that I have dragged home thus far.
I did paint the wire over the door openings. I used a fairly dry brush to avoid a big fat mess and it worked out fine. I also kept the original knobs.
I painted the knobs with the same white paint I used on the body of the table, Fusion Mineral Paint’s Casement. After the knobs were dry I lightly sanded the raised areas on those knobs with a sanding sponge to bring out those details.
The top is the real show here ya’ll.
The flaming is killing me!
I used Minwax Jacobean for the mahogany top . When I sanded down the original finish It was still pretty red underneath. Jacobean does help with toning down that red pretty well.
There is no easy way to do what I did on the curvy edge of this table . You need a steady hand and not a living soul anywhere near you. Not a man soul or a cat soul. Complete isolation and a couple of beveled brushes plus a tiny artist brush, I have done this before if you recall .
I really like the effect:)
This pieces is so full of curves it has to be female.
Don’t you think?
I don’t name my pieces.
But if I did ? Her name would be Sophie.
I will link every product I used on this piece at the bottom of the post. *******These will be affiliated links. This means that we make a small commission from your purchase but your cost stay the same. ******
Stay Safe!
