Several, several months ago on one of my weekly thrift store rounds I spotted this:
Big Daddy was not at all impressed.
I am sure that all he could see was a mess.
Now I saw these things:
solid oak
plank style top
a drawer!
and sweet legs
All that for $15.
Yes please 🙂
Lord the top!
I started this one by sanding down the top with 120 grit sandpaper. As with most of the stuff I drag home the majority of the original finish was long gone. Next I wiped the entire piece with a dry microfiber cloth. These will catch any and all dust and loose dirt. When I was sure I had all the loose particles removed I wiped the apron, drawer and legs down with disinfectant wipes. BTW, they were filthy at first.
I really want to keep this ya’ll but alas my shop is empty . For the second time this month, I might add. Yes it is a good problem for a girl who refinishes and sell furniture but this thing is calling to me.
The stained the top in a custom mix of roughly 70% Minwax Jacobean and 30% Weathered Oak. The Weathered Oak seems to lighten up the Jacobean just enough to warm it a bit.
The copper filigree knob was among all the single knobs I rarely have a use for. This big chunky coffee table doesn’t need much in the way of jewelry,
The white paint is a mix of Fusion’s Casement and Champlain. I only had a little of each on hand and you know I wasn’t leaving the house to go get any 🙂
They really are sweet legs!
FYI
I’m gonna be painting my butt off this weekend ya’ll…….
