Last Sunday I left home early, early in the morning, headed to Duncan, SC to go procure this:
Gimme those curvy French jobs any day of the week ya’ll!
I had spotted this French desk on Marketplace for a whopping $25. The very nice lady I bought it from had quite the warehouse full of Estate sale leftovers, if I understood her correctly. Her husband loaded it in to my Jeep while I was prowling around the place. They had all sorts of stuff but most of it wouldn’t fit in my ride, which was fine because all I could think about was getting my newest acquisition home and a paint brush in my hand. It’s really funny to me in my 7th year refinishing castoff pieces of furniture I still squeal like a kid when I find something cool!
A little scuffed and a lot dusty never deterred me not one bit.
Stink, on the other hand really does.
Tiger Lily will lay on a drop cloth with me for hours while I paint.
If she’s cold I paint with her in my lap.
This is Fusion Mineral paint’s Homestead Blue.
Now, I get my FMP from a distributor in Asheville. She has a booth in another multi vendor antique mall. Now every time I’ve gone in there I have stared and stared and STARED at this color.
So last week I finally pulled the trigger and I could not be more pleased with my purchase. It is a lovely shade of French blue with an ever so slight bit of green in it.
It is a beautiful color.
With only a single drawer I had two chances to add some sparkle to her so I chose these glass knobs that remind me of a crystal ball.
I am a sucker for any piece of furniture with one of these curved aprons ya’ll
It just adds so much interest and detail,
………as well as the curves around the sides.
The top is straight Minwax Jacobean stain with three coats of their poly over it.
I also painted these lamps that I found at Goodwill for $8 each. I used FMP Picket Fence and it is a pure white. The pouf was a Dollar General find for $20.
Crazy Mama, Crazy Lily!
