Oh, how I struggle this time of year with of all things, our front porch.
In years past I have tried it all and I either got tired of it or didn’t like it to begin with.
But not this year. This year I went with simple and natural (also inexpensive & last minute!) and I am quite pleased ya’ll :)))
This Trader Joe’s wreath was a $10 jumping off point. A dark green evergreen wreath on a black door has no impact. I remedied that with a $1.97 can of flocking form Walmart. As I was trying to find the flocking I ran right in to these sleigh bells! They make the sweetest sound every time the door opens. If memory serves, I believe they had three other kinds . Alas I went with the antique brass sleigh bells since ‘Tis the Season.
Plus these were $10 .
If you have never checked out the fresh evergreen wreaths at Trader Joe’s you need to. They have multiple times of evergreens in them as well and nice good sized pine cones!
I found this large lantern at Dollar General over the Summer and have really enjoyed having it full of pillar candles, lit in the evenings that I sit out there. Now it has taken on a whole new life when mixed in with cedar, long needle pine and magnolia.
You can never have too much magnolia in my opinion.
This past summer I made covers for our gray cushions out of a black and white buffalo check cotton fabric. The fabric really looks good against the color of our house. I wasn’t even thinking about Christmas back then but I’m happy with the combination.
The basket that I have the magnolia in was a $2 Goodwill find. It makes quite the elegant arrangement. Over the summer it was full of white impatient then came white mums in the Fall that I promptly killed :(((
This past Saturday we hosted a Christmas party for my department at work. The porch looked just magical with all the lanterns and my galvanized houses lit up. This evening Big Daddy had to work late so I ran out there and lit it all up again for hime to see !
Hope ya’ll have a great week!
Paige

Your front porch looks inviting and festive. What I noticed, is that you kept your color spectrum very focused. It’s black, green and galvanized, with a little wood from your chairs thrown in. I think that’s why it has so much impact! I can’t believe you bought those bells at Walmart….I never see things like that in Walmart! You’ve inspired me and now I so want to put out magnolia leaves for Christmas – now I just need to figure out how to steal branches from the trees in our neighborhood!!
