There is a Fusion Mineral paint retailer in Asheville. It is in another multivendor antique mall that also happens to be near my day job. So every couple weeks or so I stick my head in there and pick a new color. This past week my pick was this deep, dark and rich blue…….
I’m getting ahead of myself…….as usual.
Here’s what this side table looked like when I hauled it home.
Dirty, but in great shape despite the $15 price tag. The only thing I could find wrong with it was a BIG water ring on the top and that was easily remedied with 80 grit sandpaper and my trusty orbital :)))
I have no idea what variety of wood this is. Before I sanded the old finish off I would have sworn it was maple. Now? Not so much. Maybe ash? I would appreciate any opinions on this if ya’ll know something I don’t know.
At any rate the top refinished beautifully!
If you notice in the raw wood photo the top had an almost yellow tint to it. My 50/50 Jacobean and Classic Gray stain mix loves a yellow base.
For the knobs I had just happen to have three of the ones I found on Amazon with the copper filigree . I love the way the copper plays with the Midnight Blue. Plus the knobs are just the least bit feminine in my eyes.
Fusion’s Midnight Blue is a standalone color. I also didn’t want to slap a knob on there that might compete too much with the rich color on the body of this piece.
More on the Nutcracker man later:))))

Another beautiful piece! I look forward every day to see what is new on your site. i have a sofa table in light maple that i want to paint, and just can’t pull the trigger and decide what color to use. So I use your posts for inspiration.
