I have never been more in love and more frustrated in my life……..
But first?
This.
This is the Facebook Marketplace photo of my latest victim. It is no secret that I love this era of furniture. Everybody I know knows it. I mean to tell you that people on the moon know it. I honest to God could not believe that I was the first person to respond to this ad. Also? Let me just say right here that this piece of furniture was in perfect shape. The folks that I bought it from had really taken great care of it. It was clean, the drawers worked perfectly and it smelled good. For me personally as a furniture painter there are many, many days that I can’t even check one of those boxes.
Here’s the after.
This is Dixie Belle’s Vintage Duck Egg. Ya’ll it is a glorious turquoise, one of my very favorite colors in the world. True to DB standards the color went on like a dream and covered beautifully.
So what was the problem?
It was absolutely impossible to photograph this piece at my house. I could not get a single picture of it that conveyed the actual color. I tried for three days at different times of day and It was terrible. I do not like to do this but I final bit the bullet and hauled the chest down to my shop and got a very few decent shots. I don’t like to photograph stuff at my shop because the florescent lights are really harsh but all things considered the photos turned out way better that anything I could turn out on my own.
The top is a custom mix of Minwax Jacobean and Classic Gray that I used on the green pine dresser. I am quite pleased with how it looks on the mahogany.
I really like the original drawer pulls but one was missing. I combed Ebay and Etsy for two days but no luck. In the back of my mind I had glass knobs as a jumping off point. Lucky for me since I need 8 knobs, it was 50% off week at Hobby Lobby.
I did mix the pulls, smaller ornate antique brass knobs on the slim top drawer ($2 each) and these lovely swirly glass knobs ($2.50) for the rest. I was able to find the glass know in three different sizes, small, medium which I used and a larger one. I am already planning on using them in the future,
Paige

I have a dresser that I am interested in having painted. Do you paint furniture for others? I saw your pieces of furniture in Sweeten Creek Antiques yesterday. Thank you, Brenda Swearingen
