I love the odd side table.
I have always loved a collected look in my home. When Big Daddy and I married and just started out that collected look was out of necessity because we were piecing together our first home. That first home turned out to be a townhouse in downtown Asheville with hardwood floors throughout and large, sun baring windows. We were just happy as could be to be together. All of the material things were completely secondary. We did want our first home to be pretty and reflect our style though.
We just didn’t know what that was quite yet……… Plus, we were newly marries and fresh outa college and our parents house ya’ll. Our very first sofa was a pink sectional.
I would bet money right now that some of ya’ll are peeing you pants laughing right now! So not only was that sofa odd, so was every stick of furniture we owned including our side tables. I learned very early on that the odd castoff table could be coaxed in to something quite special.
Today’s victim:
Just a simple and classic side table with a single drawer.
At some point it had some kinda decorative edge around the back of it. When I sanded down the top I was able to make this disappear……… among other changes 🙂
Apparently this olive green is my new jam.
This color is Bayberry from Fusion mineral paint and at this moment I want to paint everything in it! As someone who lives in a quite neutral home, if I want a bit of color to work in to a room green is my goto 8 times outa 10. olive green in particular works well.
The top was stained in Minwax Jacobean which also looks really rich against the olive.
Does anyone else go nuts over Autumn Oak Leaf hydrangea leaves?
Me too!
Enjoy your weekend!
