******* Beer & A Lawn Chair Alert! !!! This is one of those post that has 500 photos in it because I am just too excited about the way the piece turned out. So get yourself a beer and a lawn chair and get comfortable, its gonna be a long one! *******
It has become increasingly more common for me to drive farther and farther away from Asheville to find my furniture pieces. Good thing I live within 15 minutes of the South Carolina state line. Asheville is a really not at all inexpensive place to live and I am assuming that the trickle down has now hit the secondhand furniture market. That being said, it’s still bugging the pee out of me but I am coming home with some really cool stuff ya’ll!
This is the photo on FB Marketplace that made me rearrange my entire day to get to this thing.
And YES I am a special kind of nuts.
I new it would need some work just by looking at the photos ………
But if I am being completely honest?
All I saw was the feet :).
That, and the glass knobs that I didn’t have to purchase myself.
Oh. This. Chest.
I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain on her because she needed the kind of help that very often comes with white. This chest is a large piece of furniture with curves aplenty. From jump I had two objectives:
Clean her up & soften her up
I did change the top smaller glass knobs out for a pair of larger white ceramic ones with some silver filigree.
I took almost 3 coats to cover up the original orange finish but that had to go. All the way back home from SC I just kept thinking soft, feminine, classic. Her bones were beautiful to begin with.
These talons ya’ll !
I must say that I have no earthly idea what type of wood this is. I would appreciate any help on this one from ya’ll if you know what it is.
The top was sanded down and restrained with the Jacobean / Classic Gray mix I have been using a lot lately but this time it was a 50/50 mix.
I lit the candles in the big lantern just for fun 🙂
I have to tell ya’ll that the built in sealer in the Fusion paint is the bomb .
Have a great week!
Paige
*****Below are affiliated link to products that I used in this post and a good deal on similar glass knobs. This means that I make a small commission on your purchase while you cost stay the same*****

It looks beautiul! Would you tell me how long it took you to refinish this piece, from start to finish? Just curious. You seem to pump out these furniture refinishes so quickly.

Hi Linda!
It took me about 2 1/2 hours (straight, I am relentless when I’m on a mission ) to paint it. About 30 minutes ( throughout the day because it’s a multi step process) to sand, stain and seal the top. Replacing the knobs took only a few minutes.
