I promised myself, in my crazy little head that I would not at all rush the process of putting our living room back together. There is something about cleaning a room out, getting new paint on the walls and letting that room come together over time the I really enjoy. I have been very slowly adding stuff to our living room, like super slow. Like, from out in the street I am sure it looks like we are moving! The windows are still bare as are the walls. After we put fresh paint on walls in this house it just about takes an act of God for me to knock a hole in one.
Just sayin’ ……..
I came across this pen and ink oak leaf study in a thrift shop for $15 that I loved. It is simple and beautiful on it’s own. It feels Fall ish to me without being too colorful or cluttered looking. I am not at all married to it so if I tire of it down to the shop it can go.
The dulcimer was given to me (along with a banjo) by a very nice lady when I went to look at a few pieces furniture she had for sale on Craigslist. I love both instruments I’m just not real sure what to do with them.
This piece of brown pottery was also a thrifted find. I actually spotted the elk across the Goodwill! I had been on the lookout for a brown vessel of some kind to use for a floral arrangement at Thanksgiving.
The antler I found in Tennessee at an antique store, actually I found a pile of them! They had a big box of them that was marked, ‘antlers for knife handles $2.50 each’. Most of them were pretty beat up with the points broken off off of them.. I dug through them and came away with three intact.
This particular one looks like it was half of a mount.
I other news, I walked in to our neighborhood grocery yesterday and there was a big pile of heirloom pumpkins ya’ll!
They must’ve know I was coming 🙂

Gorgeous mantel. I love all your thrifted finds and how you decorate with things you already own.

Thank you Amy! Most days I just want to stay home with the kittens and in my feet pajamas. It cuts way down on inputs buys!

I have made a promise to myself not to change out my flowers or decorate for fall until the first day of autumn. Autumn is a beautiful season but I know what follows. I will not rush winter. After 2 or 3 months of wearing my entire closet all at once for warmth (layering don’t you know) I am so ready for spring and summer. Your decor is beautiful as always.
