The past few weeks I have been concentrating on smaller pieces of furniture and quilts, but thats a story for another day. I am giving my joints a bit of a rest from the heavy, larger pieces. This break is especially important for my shoulders particularly . I have torn both biceps before and need to pace myself. Today I am sharing the latest one, a curvy piece that I used a new paint color on , a color that just might me my favorite new white.
I found this darling table at my neighborhood Goodwill for ten bucks ya’ll. Ten bucks for a cherry side table! I will take that action any day of the week. It was in perfect shape except for a black circle the size of the bottom of a pillar candle smack in the middle of that top. Luckily it sand out just fine.
The original finish was pretty heavy so I really could not appreciate the beauty of the cherry. After sanding with 80 grit and finishing with 120 grit I then restained with Minwax dark walnut stain. I love a dark top but you can still appreciate the beautiful wood.
See those lovely curves ?
I painted this table in Fusion Mineral Paint’s Champlain and I could not be happier ya’ll. It is a warm antique white without any yellow tones at all.
I’m pretty sure that I have told ya’ll this before but when a piece has only a few spots to add the jewelry I try to add something really lovely and special. This knob is a perfect example of why. I found it at Hobby Lobby for $7 and I know just what you are thinking. Yes, I swear by the $2 knob but it was 50% off week, the table was $10……..and sometimes, just sometimes I just say what the hell, ya’ll 🙂
It reminds me of a crystal ball 🙂
I think this color is the start of something for me. I love the color, it covers well in 2 coats as apposed to most whites and has a built in topcoat. I think ya’ll will be seeing more of this one.
I hope you have a great week!
Paige

I have also used Fusion Mineral paint in the past. I assume you used a product to avoid tannin bleed through since you were painting a light color over a dark wood. Can you tell me what you used….your project turned out so beautiful!

Hi Jolene!
I did not use anything to block the dark stain from bleeding. I got really lucky on this one. Also, the Champlain did not leave brush marks. I’ve read that is a problem with Fusion paints.
