Last weekend Me and Big Daddy drove down to Atlanta for a football game. For those of you who do not know we are Season Ticket holders for the Atlanta Falcons. Big Daddy acquired his first set of Falcons tickets many, MANY years ago (1984!!!!) . He did not acquire me until 1987. I am pretty sure the fact that I was already a Falcons fan swung that deal. Well that and the fact that I slept in a Falcons practice jersey that their linebacker, Buddy Curry gave me for my birthday a couple years prior. So over the years we have pursued our manic depressive hobby through many a loosing season, total of 7 hour drives and three different stadiums. We feel like the city is our second home. I have made it one of my life’s ambitions to find us a little shack on Lake Hartwell as we are getting older and would like to stay the night instead of our usual 14 hour gameday. So far? No luck :(((. This trip we drove down early Sunday morning, ate lunch, checked in to our regular hotel and poked our heads in a few antique store, home stores and Goodwills. Big Daddy is WAY more receptive to shopping when the Falcons win ya’ll!
Today I am sharing a couple of recent & weekend finds:
Plus……….. I’ve been playing around in my china cabinet 🙂
I found this guy in a multi vendor antique store call Red Hound Antiques. I have no idea what his function is but I love him! He has a big Costco sticker under that base so he is not an antique. He had me at the antlers!
Over Labor Day we hit a bunch of Antique stores on our way out of Tennessee. The very last one was HUGE!! I didn’t even look at any furniture because we were in Big Daddy’s truck. So as I was weaving in and out of the area that was mostly big locked glass cases I saw something I have never seen in an Antiques store.
A big box, like a banana box at the grocery FULL of deer antlers! The sign on the box said, ‘antlers for knife handles $2.50’ . What they were trying to convey was that the antlers were less that perfect and not all of their points were in tack. The very nice lady at the counter opened the case for me and like a crazy person I sat down crosslegged on the floor and picked my way through them. I manages to find the best 4 and smiled all the way home.
This metal horse was a Goodwill find for 3 bucks. One ear, no tail and I think he is perfect. He came off of something, maybe a piece of equipment? There are screw holes underneath.
For the rest of the stuff I just stuck to old silver and white tableware. Big Daddy says this is his favorite arrangement in the cabinet that I have ever done. I am not so sure. I’m thinking it won’t last long though.
It’s about time for the pumpkins.

Big Daddy is right! This looks fabulous and curated and doesn’t look like every other blogger’s cluttered cupboards full of fake orange pumpkins or the all white decor minimalists who delicately position a few faux white painted pumpkins. I am inspired by your furniture makeovers and you gave me the incentive to repaint all my dining room furniture and wallpaper the inside of my hutch. I also appreciate your honesty about what sells in your booth.

The deer head….and the horse….just beautiful. I think the horse is my favorite…what a wonderful story he must have!! I do love the gray pattern on the back wall of your hutch – it makes everything look so cohesive! And cheers to what Nancy said above about busy, cluttered displays. Real people don’t live like that. Your home always looks like real people live there, day in and day out.
