A few weeks ago I acquired a nice little oak library table from my friend Ronnie. She is also the owner and my boss at Sweeten Creek Antiques where I have my shop. I walked in the front door at SCA and there it sat and I immediately began to drool. Turns out she wanted rid of it and home with me it went :).
It’s funny.
I don’t luck up on oak very often at all, maybe a couple of pieces a year. I have painted 5 oak pieces of furniture this Summer alone. There was really nothing wrong with this library table except this big stain on the top,
Which would sand out beautifully :))))
I have been on a Dark Walnut kick the summer and I love how it looks on oak, especially with grain like this!
I did stick my neck out on the hardware for this one. The table has one drawer, one pull, one shot at the perfect piece of jewelry. I chose something like a single big, bold cocktail ring that would look great with a pair of perfectly faded jeans.
See what I’m talking about?
I must have stood in front of the knob aisle at Hobby Lobby for half an hour before going home with this one in my purse. It was regularly $8. It was not 50% off week either. I did have their perpetual 40% off coupon so that lessened the pain somewhat. This single drawer in this piece is small so I was very careful not to go all Grizwald on the knob aisle and over estimate the height of my living room ceiling :))))))
I chose General Finishes Bone White on this one.
It is my very favorite white but I really didn’t want to upstage that top ya’ll.
