I never thought in a million years I would have a can of soft, baby pink paint in the front row of my paint cabinet. In my paint cabinet the front row is reserved for the frequent flyers, the whites, the grays, the black. Now there is a little pint can of the most perfect, Ballet Pink from General Finishes.
This color hypnotizes me.
Fact ya’ll.
I do not have a before photo of this one. I got it from a lovely young lady in Hendersonville for $25. To date it is the only piece of furniture that I actually had to sand down the entire piece before I put a drop of paint on. There wasn’t a thing in the world wrong with it except for liberal amounts of glossy, glossy polyurethane. I don’t think anybody in the furniture painting world could have gotten paint to adhere to that mess.
The top is made of big, wide oak planks. That got my attention right away. After sanding them down I chose Minwax Dark Walnut for the finish.
I did struggle with the jewelry on this one. It sat painted, stained and ready to go out in the Hell Hole for several weeks until I found these fluted cup pulls with an antique pewter finish. Their finish is as soft as the pink paint is and I really love how they play together.
Now this particular color is not at all for the impatient. I am here to tell ya’ll that this particular project took 3 coats of paint plus touch ups. It was well worth it in my opinion.
You may remember the other piece that I painted in Ballet Pink. When it sold the fine folks down at Sweeten Creek Antiques sent me this via text:
The smile on this kid’s face means the world to me.
I’m sure that’s why they sent it to me. They know me and they new it would.

Do you brush or spray your paint on the furniture? I know you brush or wipe the stain, but wondered about the body of the piece.

Hi Linda! I use a brush for the paint, a Purdee sash brush and I apply stain and poly with a lint free cloth.

Is your Krylon chalk paint you have used recently a spray can? I am thinking of using that on a light pine sofa table I have had for years. Do I need to lightly scuff with sandpaper, or just spray right on? Thanks!

No my Krylon chalkboard paint is in a can. If your table is shiny shiny I would definitely scuff it a bit,.
