About Three weeks ago I picked up a pair of antique side tables from a very nice young man on the North side of Asheville. This always makes me a bit apprehensive . I am not at a all crazy about going in to someone I don’t know’s house, let alone their basement. I watch ALOT of Dateline and 48hours ya’ll, so I’m always on high alert when I go pick up a piece of furniture. So back to this particular dude. When I pulled up he already had the tables out on his walk!
And they say chivalry is dead…….
The photo on FB Marketplace did not do these justice.
I got out of my Jeep, saw those curves and lost my mind ya’ll!
So I was wondering aimlessly around Hobby Lobby a few days ago and actually discovered that they have a decorative paint aisle. Honest to God I don’t remember ever going down that row. None of the chalk style paints looked appealing or were on sale but I did see a quart of Krylon Chalkboard black paint for $11 and there is always a 40% off coupon on their website so I gave it a shot.
I also grabbed these antique brass sunflower knobs for $2 each 🙂
The brown transferware covered dish was my big purchase last Summer at Lakewood Antiques Market.
This Krylon chalkboard black is so beautiful and perfectly flat sheen. It covered really well and just took two coats. Since I came home with a quart of this stuff and I love it? Ya’ll gonna be seeing it frequently.
The top is stained in Minwax Dark Walnut and sealed with their poly in satin . I don’t think I’ve ever discussed this but I apply 3 coast of the poly over as many days.
These will be down at the shop sometime tomorrow if you are local.
Enjoy your weekend!
Paige
Stunning. Gorgeous. Ridiculously beautiful. My jaw just dropped when I saw the picture. Whoever walks out the door with these two is darn lucky. I love timeless beauty and elegance – and they personify it!
Hi Paige! These are so classy and the style is timeless! Black is the perfect color for them! I’m sure they will not even last a day at your shop!
Thank you Leah! And you were right. They lasted 1 hour 🙂
You said Rustoleum chalkboard paint, and it turned out flat? It looks like it has a sheen, which I love. Did you use poly over it?
Hi Linda I mistyped. It is actually Krylon chalkboard paint and I sealed it with Minwax poly in satin.
I can so appreciate your hard work on this. We just deconstructed a credenza to make our night stands in our room. Yours tables are beautiful. Thanks for sharing on To Grandma’s House We Go, I’ll be featuring you next week.
Thank you so much ❤️
