Frequently I wonder just exactly what possesses me to drag home the pieces of furniture that I do……..
Even the guy at Goodwill was skeptical.
I drove to their warehouse area to pick up my new junk and the guy said,
“Are you sure you want this???”
When I got home and began the hellish task of sanding away the old paint job his words came back to haunt me.
Good. God.
Four layers of it.
I have this hard and fast rule about buying furniture that is already painted.
In a word? Don’t.
Somewhere in this mess of color and cuss words was a really lovely vintage green that would actually be my inspiration for this particular project because as luck would have it? I had no plan for this mess.
I had to dig out all the way to the very back of my paint hoard to find a nearly full quart of Annie Sloan Olive chalk paint. The upshot of that excavation was that I now know what colors I actually have in there for a change. I honestly can not remember when I last used any Annie Sloan paint but I was immediately reminded how much I love this paint!
These oak two bedsides used to be a vanity. Honestly, I have never come across one made of oak before. I stained them with Minwax Jacobean and sealed them with their wipe on poly.
The knobs were leftovers from another project and are no longer available . I have a link at the bottom of this post to very similar ones. They fit these bedsides perfectly! I really wanted the tables to be the star of this show as apposed to the hardware. They are just enough jewelry for them.
I coud not be happier with these!
They were tons of work ( and a few awkward looks from the neighbors) but the payoff was well worth it all.
Enjoy your Sunday!

I have never seen you use a green like this — I like it!! And it’s very versatile, especially in a home with neutral and natural colors! Beautifully done; that pink was a nightmare. You are brave! The pink in the roses, however, is gorgeous…. so soft and pretty ! Are they from your garden? Love this — as always !

Thank you Kristine! You should have seen the looks on my neighbors faces as they drove by my driveway when I unloaded them. they probably though I had finally lost my mind.
