I can crap something up like nobody’s business ya’ll.
But I think I have finally gotten that out of my system. I guess it’s part of growing up but it has taken me a long time to realize that everything I do does not have to cure cancer. I became at peace finally with the simpler things instead of breaking my neck to go way overboard several years ago. It is soooooo liberation ya’ll!
This antique oak chest of drawers really didn’t need much help. It just needed a bit of a refresh. I drove all the way to Brevard, NC early on a Saturday morning about two weeks ago to pick this particular piece up from a very nice lady. It sat in my garage for about a week till Big Daddy was out of town and the second his tail lights left the neighborhood I moved it in to the kitchen and went to work on that REFRESH……….
Black & White is my absolute favorite, hands down.
I chose my very favorite, albeit discontinued General Finishes Bone White chalk paint, 4 coates of it! It literally broke my heart in to a million pieces when GF discontinued this line ya’ll. I love their other products but this line was the bomb. For a piece of this size I think a creamy white was the best choice. The cup pulls were a really budget friendly score on Amazon and I will leave a link for them at the bottom of this post.
I have never been lucky enough to come home with the original key to anything. This beautiful reproduction key is actually mine and will not convey with this piece, but I love how it photographs. I’m thinking I got it at Michaels years ago but I am not positive. It lives in an almost identical oak chest in our dining room.
I restained the oak top with Minwax Jacobean and sealed it in their poly as well. I just love that curvy back piece. I chose to paint it because I felt like it would really show off those curves on this very linear piece.
Thanks of stopping in!

What ?? Just because you talk about it so much, I bought a can of General Finishes Bone White last December. I was in Rockler buying Sailor a gift card for Christmas, and I thought I should have a can of it ready for whenever I get myself organized and brave enough to actually paint something!! So I am glad I bought, but bummed I won’t be able to get another can. (Maybe the Rockler store still has some in inventory…) This piece turned out beautifully – the black cup pulls look amazing on it !!!
