Y’all this Spring the mantel has been a struggle this year.
For one thing it has taken three forevers for Spring to get here this year. 65 degrees…..cold as hell……65 degrees, that sort of thing. It takes all of the fun out of it and kills all my tulips. This week has been so nice though, all that electric blue sky and porch sitting weather and I finally got my butt in gear 🙂
I have really enjoyed that bunny that Big Daddy drew for me 🙂
Except for the moss wreath everything I used on the mantel is second hand.
The piece of green pottery was my jumping off point. I came across it at a local animal rescue thrift shop for four bucks. I love the yellowy, almost a celery green. To me that is the very color of Spring.
Next came the antique books.
I usually concentrate on blue and green when I am selecting old books to display. Both work well in our fairly neutral home. I have also lost my mine over the quail eggs. I have two dozen of them in this little apothecary jar . Their speckles are amazing! Bird eggs in general have always been fascinating to me.
This white china fruit topiary was a (I think) $6 find at my Goodwill ……and apparently it’s a thing, some Italian blanc de chine thing. I have always admired these in the past. I will be on high alert to find another as I would really like to have a pair of them.
Happy Easter y’all!
Paige

Lovely mantel! I’m a fan of speckled eggs, too…and pretty robin’s egg blue ones, though I confess bunnies have taken over my mantel this season because I cannot resist a good bunny! (I so admire “Big Daddy’s, too.) I came across a fun painted rustic bunny wooden pull toy at one of my local thrift shops just the other day (beige bunny, dark green base) that is now on my mantel. Too hard to resist.
Happy Easter to you, too!

I love your blog because it realistically portrays how a normal person decorates on a budget. Also I admire your painting artistry. Yours is my most anticipated blog. Thanks!
