A few weeks ago I spotted something I have been waiting on for a long time. Back when I very first started refinishing castoff pieces of furniture a good friend of my family offered me a trestle table that belonged to a member of their family. When I went over there to pick it up I was crushed. It would not fit in to my Jeep!
And I have been looking for ever since.
This is the exact same table in the exact same unfinished state as the table I got from a guy on Facebook Marketplace. They are readily available at unfinished furniture stores and all over the interned. Sadly, I didn’t remember to get a before photo of mine. So here’s the weird part of this story: After waiting for one of these for forever it took me another forever to get a color for this table in to my crazy little head.
Lillie is always right by my side. She’s the sweetest little girl !
I went with a darker warm gray, Dixie Belle Hurricane . It has become the new neutral in my paint can arsenal. I used Minwax Dark Walnut stain for the raw top and sealed it with Minwax poly in satin. I love this combination and it looks so stately on pine! This chair is another Goodwill find for $20. Big Daddy just looked at me when I came in the door with it like, how many of these chairs do we need???
The reason I love these trestle tables is their simple versatility. So just for fun I have style this table three different ways just to illustrate my point.
This table is plenty big enough to be used a a dining table.
It seats four quite comfortably 🙂
And the third option?
A console table
Which one is your favorite?
