Remember about a month or so ago I was debating on chopping up an antique vanity that I had just dragged home?
Well, somebody did it for me :)))))
But ya’ll? Whoever had them before me did a number on these sweet tables
Dear Lord and Baby Jesus I had not one clue as to what I had just gotten my goofy little self into. It was a complete and total mess! They were solid black when I got my sander out. I thought I would just go right ahead and sand both tops down really quick while I had some daylight and a warmer evening.
Looks like Walt Disney threw up, huh?
I chose to paint these two bedsides in GF Empire Gray. Its is a warm , pale gray and I have used it quite a few times over the years. It is an elegant gray in my opinion.
The top are stained in Minwax Jacobean .
How cute is this tiny globe?
Plus I love all the grays & browns. It is headed to the shop but it really looks good in my living room. I found a gob of then a Ross the other day and all were nontraditional colors.
You may recognize these knobs.
I have used then on several pieces of furniture plus our downstairs powder room vanity. At $2 each on Hobby Lobby’s 50% off week you can’t beat them. They are just neutral enough to go with almost everything.
I can not wait to get my hands on another pair of these !

So, you just sanded and stained the tops, and then painted the Empire Gray OVER the black? That’s amazing! I can’t believe the coverage is that strong! And you’re right – someone really did torture those poor things! Good thing you came along to rescue them!! They look wonderful and yes, that globe is way cute.
