The words collection and obsession are synonymous in this house most of the time. For Big Daddy it’s guitars and cast iron pans. For Paige it is all things that can be used to set a dining table.
I have really been collecting tureens for a short period of time, maybe 6 years? The beautiful one on the bottom with those curly handles was my very first. I am sure I paid less that $10 for it at my Goodwill. The bunny to the right was a truly thoughtful gift from Big Daddy about 2 years ago. He knows that I have a soft spot for bunnies. When I was little my Mama pretty much let me have any pet I wanted. Two of those pets were bunnies. I have not seen another one like it so far. I’m not sure if you can tell from these photos but these are all different shades of white and cream.
I love the variations……and the imperfections.
This seashell Tureen is my newest find. I found it in the West Asheville Goodwill for $8 and it is big and gorgeous. The little man who checked me out thought so also :). The handles on this one are clam shells but the conch shell on top is what first caught my eye.
I have two of those lion’s head tureens.
The small/ sorter one is new, the only new one that I have actually purchased by the way. I got it at Old Time Pottery for about $15 maybe .
This one was also a thrift store and it is Williams Sonoma.
The big one in the top lefthand corner was a Christmas gift from Big Daddy . Coincidently it matches my friend Donna Smith’s china! Also coincidently? These have never had a drop of soup in them in this house. They have had however lots of floral arrangements. They are perfect for them!
This is the tiniest one. I found it a few weeks ago at Habitat for three bucks.
I have two more that are not on display right now, a very large pumpkin ( a birthday gift from Big Daddy) and a smaller turkey tureen .
Maybe I should put them out……

This is just so gorgeous – please tell me you have this on the link party circuit!! I love how simple and stunning it is with the tight color palette and the beautiful shapes and textures of the tureens! This is so much prettier than a busy, crowded, overdone display of dishes and tureens. I search for these all the time when I am thrift shopping, but I guess they just aren’t popular in California!

Paige… these are SO lovely, and I’m with Kristene… be sure to put these on link parties. 😉 Just saw this on The Scoop, and would love to have you share on Homestyle Gathering via My Wee Abode! I have started my own tureen collection, and I have at least one of the same ones you do. Love that shell one! Pinning!
