Today I cleaned out my paint cabinet and I am pretty sure it made the 6:00 news.
There was crap in there that I have no recollection of buying, my hand to God. And most of it was dried up and hard as a brick. Obviously I need to pull all that mess out in to the kitchen floor and go through it way more often than I do. One of the containers that was not ready for the garbage was a big tub of Country Chic’s soft white Crinoline. I had meant to use it for a table base and didn’t . Well that table’s loss was this vanity’s gain 🙂
Sweet Lord these feet.
Here’s what it looked like when we dug it out of Gordon’s garage
Except for that bit on the side of the left set of drawers this jewel is perfect. I hardly ever get that lucky. I thought seriously about asking my neighbor Mark to cut the middle part out and have two gorgeous bedside tables. Alas, I could not bring myself to do it…….this time anyway
Yea. It’s a goal.
This is another knob from the new inventory at Hobby Lobby. They have really upped their game with all of the knobs that I have seen so far. These were two bucks each at 50% off. Ain’t nobody mad about that! It is hard to tell from the photos but these are really nice substantial ceramic knobs. Good thing.
Those drawers are also substantial.
The curvy detail is swoon worthy ya’ll.
I really could not believe my luck. I was trying so hard to be cool while Big Daddy was loading it into his truck. The very second the doors shut I let out a squeal y’all would not believe.
The top is solid mahogany which I sanded down and stained with Minwax Jacobean stain. This is color is new to me and I really like it quite a lot! I sealed the top with another new to me product, Minwax water based poly. The poly went on with a lint free cloth and has very, very little odor. I will be keeping both on hand from now on.
The rattan hurricanes are headed down to the shop.
I love the texture they add.
Hope your week is a good one!

Unfortunately, my family had to move when I was 14-years-old, and I have never been back. My heart is still there though!

I would be interested in the hurricanes if possible. Could you send me the prices? Thanks so much.

I am so impressed with the wood tops on your pieces. The finish is so smooth and the grain so perfect. You must do a lot of sanding. ( I hate sanding)

Linda Thank you! I do not love it, I love the outcome.

Magical! This little vanity is now full of life! And those knobs!! I am taking notes on the stain and finish you used. I am completely fascinated by this whole painting process, but understand so little about it. It’s so helpful when you share your tools, products and processes!
