Ya’ll, I am seriously considering leaving some of the evergreen around the house up for a little longer. It is not dropping any needles and is sooooo fragrant! Usually the mess gets me but this year so far so good. Oh, and Big Daddy has petitioned the courts to not take down the Christmas tree till after today. I knuckled under ………but by next weekend the reprieve is over. To be clear I am not tired of the tree. I actually am still enjoying all of the metallic accents that I chose to use in our Christmas decor this year and am really glad I chose them. The only room in the house that I used red in was the kitchen and our breakfast area. I am just tired if eating, wearing and sleeping in GLITTER. So today I was putting away some of the red accents I had used in the kitchen which led to restyling the china cabinet for these Winter months.
I love Winter.
One of the Doctors I worked with years ago told me that I have the opposite of Seasonal Effective Disorder.
And I will cop to that 🙂
So with some cream plates, a few pieces of old tarnished silver and couple hours later I had what you see here. That and a smile on my face. I have the most fun just restyling this cabinet ya’ll!
I have had these snowflake cookie cutters for ages.
I can not tell y’all why I am just now using them.
This jar is one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received. It was from my good friend and neighbor Donna Smith. She pointed out to all of us that we seem to always remember the bad. Now every good thing that happens will be committed to memory on a slip of paper and placed in this jar.
Happy New Year !

The china cabinet looks gorgeous! I love,,, LOVE that gravy boat! It is one of the prettiest ones I have ever seen! And that sugar bowl got my attention in a big way too! I love winter too; I think its because its beach weather year-round here in San Diego. People seem to think it’s great, but to me it’s like living in your house with ALL the lights turned on, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Right now though, we are having a cold snap! (Well, cold for Southern California!). We just got our TV room back (my niece was living with us for a few months) and yesterday all 5 of us (3 cats, 2 people) were curled up in there with on the love seat! I was in heaven! Happy New Year!
